Check Your Thermostat

Check the Power

Your air conditioning system needs access to a steady supply of electrical power to function properly. The circuit supplying this power could become tripped or the power switch inside the compressor may be faulty if your AC system isn't producing cool air.

You will need to use a voltage meter to check the power to your air compressor. 

Check the Filter

When the thermostat and the power supply aren't the problem, you will want to continue troubleshooting your cooling system by checking the air filter.

Your compressor unit will draw in air from the outdoor environment, then cool this air and send it throughout your home. The air passes through a filter to remove any particles or contaminants that might damage your AC system. Air filters need to be changed regularly, as they can clog up and prevent the passage of air over time.

You can check your air filter by holding it up to a light source. If you can see light coming through the filter, then the filter isn't causing your AC to stop producing cool air. If the filter doesn't allow light to pass through, it won't allow air to pass through either. Install a new filter to see if the problem is resolved.
